Popcorn flavor or seasoning powders are a simple and easy topping to change the flavor of your popcorn. If you snack on popcorn regularly, powdered flavors quickly add a lot of flavor variety. Popcorn seasonings are also really great for popcorn bars and give your guests lot options to customize their popcorn to their own taste. Here is a list of some of the powder popcorn flavors I’ve seen:

  • bacon cheddar

  • cajun
  • caramel
  • cheddar
  • chile lime
  • cinnamon sugar
  • dill pickle
  • garlic Parmesan
  • jalapeno nacho
  • kettle corn
  • milk chocolate
  • salt
  • ranch
  • white cheddar

Many of these flavors I’ve seen in grocery stores on the popcorn isle. Amazon also has lots of these as well. Happy popcorn powder flavor shopping!

How to Get the Flavor Powder to Stick to the Popcorn Kernels

To get popcorn flavor powder to stick to your popcorn kernels is with a little oil. When making a single bowl of powdered flavored popcorn, a little melted butter or olive oil drizzled over your popcorn, thoroughly mixed to cover most of the kernels. Then you can sprinkle on your popcorn flavor powder and voila the powder sticks to the popcorn kernels.

Preparing a popcorn bar and you want to allow your guest to sprinkle on their own popcorn flavor seasoning powder, and pre-oiling the popcorn kernels isn’t practical. The best solution is to provide a can of cooking spray for guests to spray their own popcorn with a little oil to get the popcorn flavor powder to stick to the kernels. A butter flavored can of cooking spray would be perfect.

Shaker Jars for Popcorn Powder Flavors

Most of the time popcorn powder flavors are sold in plastic shaker/ seasoning jars. It is easy to keep and serve the powder directly from these jars but if you want to take it up a level, use some beautiful seasoning/ spice jars. Use your own beautiful jars or check out these popcorn seasoning jars I have in my shop.

When you purchase a popcorn bar from my shop, glass popcorn powder shakers are included. They are customized with the flavor name of your choice on each jar, just include the flavors when ordering. You can also purchase just the popcorn jars on their own.

Keep Your Popcorn Powders Fresh

The small jars of popcorn powder flavors is plenty of powder to last for years. To keep those powders fresh you will need to use some of the same tricks as you would to keep your spices fresh. Moisture is the enemy and causes the powder to clump. You can store the popcorn flavor powders in zip-lock plastic bags, or add something like dried rice or beans to absorb the moisture. It is much easier to remove the rice or beans when using the shakers if you put a few grains of rice or beans in a tea bag. My grandma always had a tiny bag of rice in a tea bag in her salt shaker to prevent clumping. It works great!
