This is my best advice, plan ahead. Whether you plan to do a lot or little, the key to planning a simple Father’s Day or any holiday or event is to plan ahead. Father’s day probably isn’t a big holiday in most families like Christmas probably is but if you start 4-6 weeks before and get a couple things done each week, it is so helpful. You aren’t stressed the week and few days before also the actual day is so much better as well and you get to enjoy the celebration too.
The Plan
This is a simple basic plan to planning a simple Father’s Day. The order of these steps can be changed around. You can expand or simplify these steps based on what type of of Father’s day you want to celebrate.
- Set the date, time, & location. Text, email or call friends and family to set this up.
- Decide on the menu & theme. Do this early on and stick with it. Changes last minute can be big source of stress.
- Purchase or make decorations that are needed
- Make sure you have the necessities. Table, chairs, cups, plates, serving ware, etc. Borrow, buy, rent as needed.
- Grocery shopping
- Prep & prepare as much before hand as possible
- Day of decorate & finalize the food
- CELEBRATE!!!!
Simple Food Ideas
Easiest place to start is with Dad’s favorite foods. Sometimes it can be tricky if there are more than one dad coming or it’s not your dad you are celebrating with where you may not know their favorite foods. However, generally speaking men aren’t usually too hard to appease, give them a good meat and lots of food and they are happy (of course, that generalizing not every man feels the same). Here are some easy fun ideas for Father’s day food:
- Breakfast burrito bar
- Hamburgers & hot dogs
- Ribs, corn on the cob & beans
- Potluck (you provide the main protein and everyone else bring the sides and desserts)
